Systems for Handymen

Small jobs, big lists, all organized before you pick up the drill.

Your work is a hundred little jobs: a sticky door, a leaky tap, a TV mount, the closet shelf that came down at midnight. Each one usually starts with a quick question that turns into fifteen minutes on the phone. We build handymen a site that shows what you take on, gathers photos and details up front, and helps the jobs you enjoy keep coming in.

Common challenges

What slows down Handymen

Challenge 1

"Can you come look at it?"

A drive across town to look at a cracked baseboard. Without photos up front, it's hard to know whether you're quoting a half-day job or two minutes of caulking.

Challenge 2

Not everyone knows the range of what you do

Some assume you only hang pictures. Drywall patches, fence repairs and furniture assembly are easy to miss unless they're listed somewhere clear.

Challenge 3

Calls during the job

The phone rings while you're on a ladder holding a light fixture. Callers who can't reach you often move on to the next listing, even when they'd have happily waited.

Challenge 4

Small jobs, small budgets, big expectations

Clients want to know if you have a minimum charge, whether you supply materials and how you bill. Explaining it every time eats the margin on a one-hour job.

Challenge 5

Realtors and landlords with a list

Pre-listing touch-ups and rental turnovers are great work. They want a fast, organized way to send twelve items with photos, and a text thread isn't it.

The solution

The system we'd build for you

01

A 'we fix that' service list

Grouped the way homeowners think: doors and hardware, drywall and paint touch-ups, mounting and assembly, minor plumbing fixtures, decks and fences, seasonal jobs.

02

Job request form with photo upload

Customers describe the job, attach a few pictures and choose a rough timeframe. You can quote or ballpark from your truck before you ever drive over.

03

'What we don't do' page

Licensed electrical, gas fitting, major plumbing. Saying what you pass along to a licensed trade builds trust and saves you the awkward conversation.

04

How billing works, in writing

Hourly versus flat-rate, minimum call-out, materials and disposal, written once and linked in every reply.

05

Realtor and landlord request option

A spot on the form for multi-item lists with photos, so property managers and agents can send a punch list in one go.

06

A Google profile that represents you well

Service area set up properly, photos of real work and a steady flow of reviews from the repeat customers who already appreciate you.

Recommended package

Launch

Handymen live on small, fast jobs and repeat customers. Launch gives you a real site with a job-request form that collects photos and details, plus a Google profile that pulls in the neighbourhood, without the overhead of a full dispatch system.

Wherever you are

Just starting, growing or decades in.

Whether you haven't opened yet or you've been at it for decades, here's how we'd help at each stage.

Stage 1

Starting out

Just an idea, or brand new

Thinking about turning weekend fix-it jobs into a real business? Start Your Company can get you a name, logo, truck-ready branding, a site, business email and a Google profile, so your first customers see a proper operation.

Stage 2

Growing

Busy and getting busier

Once you're booked a week or two out, the photo request form and missed-call text-back keep new requests organized, and you can start choosing the jobs that fit your route.

Stage 3

Established

Years or decades in

If you've been the neighbourhood's go-to fix-it person for decades, most of your work comes by referral. We give that reputation a tidy home online without changing how your regulars reach you.

An example

What it could look like in real life

An illustration of how it could work. The business and details are made up for the example.

Picture a one-truck handyman covering Victoria from Fairfield out to Oak Bay. He's good, busy and missing calls every day because he's mid-job. We build him a site with a clear service list, a request form that takes photos, and a page explaining his minimum charge and how materials are billed. Missed-call text-back sends anyone he can't answer a link to that form. Instead of a pile of voicemails at five o'clock, he has a pile of photos to price.

Questions we get

FAQ

I'm not a licensed electrician or plumber. Will the site get me in trouble?

We write it carefully. We describe the minor work you do, like swapping a faucet or a light fixture where permitted, and say clearly that you refer bigger electrical, gas and plumbing work to licensed trades. Check your own scope with your insurer.

Should I post an hourly rate?

Many handymen do well with a minimum call-out and 'hourly from' pricing. It filters out people looking for a free visit, and it's honest about how small jobs get billed.

Can I add a 'book a half day' option?

Yes. Some clients save up a list. We can add a half-day or full-day request option on the form so you can batch those jobs.
