Systems for Tutors

When parents look for help at 10 p.m., let them find you.

Tutoring usually gets booked by parents looking for support, often after a tough test or a week before finals. They want to know three things: can you help with this subject at this level, can they trust you with their kid, and how does it work. We build tutors a calm, credible site that answers all three, plus a simple way to book a first call.

Common challenges

What slows down Tutors

Challenge 1

"Do you do Grade 12 calculus or just Grade 11?"

Parents speak in courses, not subjects. If the site just says "math tutoring," they can't tell whether you cover the course their teen is working through. Listing grades and courses, in your province's own course names, clears that up.

Challenge 2

Referrals that can't find you

A happy parent mentions you to friends at hockey. Those friends search your name and find an old classified ad. Word of mouth works best when there's a good page to land on.

Challenge 3

Busy exam seasons, quieter summers

January and June you're turning people away, and July gets quiet. Promoting summer catch-up or pre-September prep can help even out the year.

Challenge 4

Parents want to know who you are

They're trusting you with their kid. A page that shares your background, approach and policies helps them feel comfortable reaching out.

The solution

The system we'd build for you

01

Subjects and grade levels, specific

Course-by-course listing (Grade 10 science, Grade 11 chemistry, senior English, French immersion support, or whatever you actually teach, using the names your local schools use) so parents and students recognize their exact situation.

02

An "about the tutor" page parents trust

Your background, how you teach, who you work best with and any checks you hold. Written in a warm, straight-talking voice, not a résumé dump.

03

How sessions work

Online or in person, session length, where you meet, rescheduling and payment terms, all on one page you can point to instead of retyping.

04

A simple first-call request

A short form, or we can work alongside scheduling tools like Calendly or Google Calendar booking pages, so parents can grab a quick intro chat without the text tag.

05

Seasonal pages

Exam prep, summer catch-up, back-to-school assessments. Easy to switch on and off as the school year turns.

06

A Google profile for local searches

Service area, subjects and a booking link, so a search for a tutor in your neighbourhood or the next town over finds you.

Recommended package

Website Only

Tutoring is usually one person, a few subjects and a calendar. A simple site that makes your subjects, grades and approach clear, plus an easy way for parents to reach you, is plenty.

Wherever you are

Just starting, growing or decades in.

Whether you haven't opened yet or you've been at it for decades, here's how we'd help at each stage.

Stage 1

Starting out

Just an idea, or brand new

Leaving the classroom, or tutoring your way through university? Our Start Your Company option sets you up with a name, a logo, business email and a simple site, plus a Google listing parents can find.

Stage 2

Growing

Busy and getting busier

Bringing on other tutors or adding subjects? The site can grow tutor profiles and one intro-call form that routes each family to the right person.

Stage 3

Established

Years or decades in

If you've tutored for years on referrals alone, we'll write the site around the reputation you already have, keep the way you book sessions today, and give word of mouth a dependable place to point.

An example

What it could look like in real life

An illustration of how it could work. The business and details are made up for the example.

Picture a former high-school teacher tutoring math and physics from a home office in Kanata, with online sessions for families farther afield. Every new family comes from a recommendation, and each starts with the same questions by text. We build a three-page site: courses covered from Grade 7 to Grade 12 calculus, how sessions run, and a short intro-call form. The Google profile lists the service area and the same form, so a friend-of-a-friend gets answers before the first text.

Questions we get

FAQ

Should I put my rates on the site?

Usually yes, at least a starting rate. Parents appreciate knowing upfront, and it helps both sides find a good fit before the intro call. It's your call, though.

I tutor online across Canada. Does a local site still make sense?

Yes. The site works for anyone, anywhere. We'd write it around online sessions and time zones, and keep a local Google profile only if you also see students in person.

Can parents pay or book sessions through the site?

For most solo tutors, linking to the booking or invoicing tool you already use is enough. If you grow into a team of tutors, that's when a proper booking and billing system starts to make sense.

Do I need to mention criminal record checks?

Plenty of parents look for it, and a vulnerable sector check is a strong trust signal if you have one. We'll mention whatever you hold and nothing you don't.
